Get Set To Race With Black Thought At The 3rd Annual 'Roots Rock Run 5k' Charity Benefit
Get set to sweat on the streets of Philadelphia--all in the name of fitness and a great charity cause. Our favorite Legendary Roots Crew MC Black Thought will once again host the Roots Rock Run 5k race later this month, a fundraising event for his GrassROOTS community foundation. The road race will take place on Saturday, May 30th just a few hours before Festival Pier pops off for the 7th annual Roots Picnic.
“We are running, walking, and talking in Germantown to show our support for healthy girls and healthy communities," Black Thought said ahead of the race. Thought himself will, as always, run the race himself, and participants will have the chance to win not only cash prizes but the opportunity to cool down later that afternoon with free tickets to The Roots Picnic. Also, in keeping with the spirit of community togetherness, Jimmy Jazz shoe stores will be donating 100 pairs of running kicks to youth participants. Last year saw roughly 800 runners, organizers and cheerleaders getting together for the event, and this year is primed to bring out even more.
Prizes:
First place $200 + Roots picnic ticket
Second $100 + Roots picnic ticket
Third place $50+ Roots picnic ticket
Registration closes Monday, May 18th, so sign up right away and hit the pavement in preparation for the funkiest run Philly has ever seen.
