Over the years, Black Thought has become a go-to source for those looking to catch up on the latest happenings in the gory and incestuous world of Game Of Thrones. But with the NBA Finals looming and a new Roots anthem out and about scoring the highly contested bout for the league's crown, it appears the Roots MC will be averting his wordsmithing skills to something a bit more PG-13.
According to XXL, while walking the red carpet at the premiere of The Lonely Island's new film Popstar:Never Stop Never Stopping, Questlove (one of the film's copious cameos) revealed that Thought would be putting in work for the final stretch of the NBA Playoffs, reworking the lyrics to their new song "Champion" to reflect the highs and lows of each and every Finals game. And while we don't even know exactly who will be duking it out when the Finals officially begin next Thursday, June 2nd, this will certainly be something to look forward to, especially with an MC as gifted as Tariq at the helm. Tune in next week for the rap recap of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, courtesy of our very own Black Thought.
