Ben Khan Delivers A Mind-Bending Clip For New Single "1000"
British future funkateer Ben Khan returns with the dreamy and surreal clip for his frantic lead off single "1000" from a forthcoming EP by the same name. While many have likened Khan's sound to the equally reclusive frequency freaking Brit known as Jai Paul, I'd counter with stronger kinship to the minimalistic electric chops of Little Dragon, beefed up with the burliness of say, early Twin Shadow and maybe a touch of Miguel's hard-nosed r&b stuff. And in his first physical appearance in a visual of any sort (aside from stock press photos) Khan mishmashes lo-fi and hi-fi in a clip that embodies the static dissonance of "1000," blurring and slurring the clip where needed. In our end of the future-funk spectrum, few acts have managed to keep their face out of the limelight for very long, with The Weeknd and Sia being the only to do so with the highest degree of subsequent success. But if Khan's ascent keeps to the meteoric type, he'll prove the be the tour du force I've long suspected. Watch Ben Khan bend minds in his latest video for "1000" and preorder his new EP on iTunes today ahead of its May 11th release.
