OKP Premiere: How DJ Cassidy, Chromeo & Wale Linked w/ 70s Funk Royalty To Make A Modern Gem

Years ago, DJ Cassidy began a mission to redefine modern dance music, aligning studio stars of the late '70s and early '80s with their faithful 21st century decedents on his anxiously-awaited breakout debut Paradise Royale. We've already been gifted three stellar cuts ahead of the release in the super-smooth uptempo ballad "Calling All Hearts," the sweeping dance floor boogie of his R Kelly-assisted "Make The World Go Round" and the full-swing sophisto-funk of "Future Is Mine" featuring electric duo Chromeo and DMV bomber Wale

But with all the feel-good vibes swirling, it can be easy to glance over just how historic these records are, not merely in the seamless channeling of pristinely clean two-stepping fodder, but in the talent rallied to make this thing float. Luckily for you and I and the boogie-loving world, we've been granted the opportunity to show you just how this breezy r&b brilliance of "Future Is Mine" came together. In an exclusive clip from the studio, we find Cassidy, Dave-1 and P-Thugg playing maestro, recruiting legends like Patrice Rushen ("Forget Me Nots",) prolific drummer John "JR" Robinson (of Rufus, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones fame) bassist Bobby Watson, Funk Brothers alum Wah Wah Watson and legendary arranger Jerry Hey for their all-star roster. A true-school-meets-old-school cast of the highest degree.

Here you'll see all the magic of the studio and an opportunity to get familiar with the many hands and voices that brought some of r&b's most cherished pieces to life. And we couldn't be happier to provide you with the lesson. Watch as DJ Cassidy, Chromeo and Wale guide you through their studio session in an intimate and insightful behind-the-scenes clip below along with the track's full credits; a perfect audiovisual treat to hold you over until Paradise Royale finally makes way. Until then, grab your copy of "Future Is Mine" on iTunes to keep the sunny funk with you.
