OKP News: Beanie Siegel Arrested In Pennsylvania

What was threatening to be a brief moment of triumph for Philly's own Beanie Sigel proved to be even briefer than expected when police discovered drugs and a handgun in the former Roc-A-Fella rapper's vehicle at a traffic stop on I-95 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania about 3:15am this morning. According to ABC local news :

Pennsylvania State Troopers noticed a tan Ford Fusion following another vehicle too closely and swerving out of its lane of travel. The Troopers pulled the Ford over and approached the vehicle. The driver, identified as Gerald Andrews of Philadelphia, was ordered out of the vehicle and a routine check for weapons revealed several prescription bottles and a small amount of marijuana in his possession. Troopers then focused their attention to the passenger, identified as Dwight E. Grant, also known as famous Philadelphia rapper "Beanie Sigel." Police searched Grant and found approximately $4,650 cash, a bottle of codeine syrup with a scratched off label, and several prescription pills wrapped in plastic bags located in a cigarette pack. Both men were detained, and during a search of the vehicle Troopers found a firearm located in the center console. Andrews and Grant are both convicted felons and not allowed to possess a firearm.

Sigel is, in fact, not only an ex-felon, but was slated to become state property (technically federal property) next month for a two-year sentence after failing to pay his taxes. It's not clear how this new arrest will affect Sigel's status but it doesn't look good for the MC, who in addition to the two years of prison was sentenced to pay back taxes amounting to $728,536, as well as penalties and interest.

This latest round of bad news comes right after  a much talked-about victory lap of a live show at SOBs--and even more ironically the very same day (today, August 28th) that his comeback LP This Time was released (on iTunes now).
