Pass The Popcorn: Bobbito Garcia x Juan Epstein On 'Doin' It In The Park'

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Bobbito Garcia aka Kool Bob Love aka DJ Cucumber Slice--icon of hip-hop culture and jack of all trades and one half of the immortal Stretch & Bob show - found himself on the metaphorical stoop at Hot97 with DJ Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg for the Juan Epstein Show. While Bob was under the impression that he was there to promote the basketball documentary Doin' It In The Park--his first film produced with co-director Kevin Couliau--Rosenberg and Ciph were more interested in discussing Bobbito's history. As much an author of the golden era as he was defined by it, Bobbito discussed his beginnings as a street ball player turned messenger at Def Jam. His subsequent life as co-host of the iconic radio broadcast he produced with DJ Stretch Armstrong to his present life as tastemaker, historian, teacher...and now filmmaker with Doin It In The Park. The documentary focuses on the everyday lives basketball players in New York City and their undying love of the game - something Bobbito, once a street baller turned international pro, can understand.
