Pass The Popcorn: 'BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez' To Screen At NYC's IFC Center, 11/19

'BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez' Is Set To Debut At NYC's IFC Center In Greenwich Village On November 18th at the DOC NYC Film Festival, Which Runs From November 12th To The 19th.

BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez is scheduled to screen in New York City at the IFC Center in Greenwich Village on November 18th and 19th for the DOC NYC Film Festival.

The film produced by Janet Goldwater, Barbara Attie and Sabrina Schmidt-Gordon profiles celebrated poet, educator and activist Sonia Sanchez - "a lion in literature's forest" according to Dr. Maya Angelou, whose jazz inflected cadence and sharp words have cemented her place amongst literary giants. A mash of commentary and live performance footage, the film places the lens on Sanchez's "rich and often unsettled life," mining her impact on both her peers and the students of the Black Arts Movement, many of whom dominate across the arts as the vanguard of the hip-hop generation.

The film will debut at the festival on November 18th. Sanchez, Attie, Goldwater and Gordon will appear at the 7:15 PM screening on the 19th, where they will also host a Q&A.
