We told y'all Record Store Day is right around the corner (April 21st to be exact) and now we have another great new artist dropping a special vinyl release in salute--namely "More Than Mine" b/w "Lions of Chiarascuro" a limited edition 7" from Brownswood bubbler Zara McFarlane. The A-side establishes her formidable credentials as a sort of modern day Nina Simone (no mean feat in and of itself) but the b-side with it's bed of psychedelic funk and the hypnotic chorus of "red, black and green and green and red and black and green" establishes her as a sort of modern day Nina Simone jamming with a modern day ensemble of Sun Ra's Arkestra and the MC5 with King Tubby on the soundboards. I'm being told it's a mash-up of Zara's song "Chiaroscuro" with "Lions of Judah" as played by Emanative & Ahmed Abdullah but either way, it'll push your mane back.
