Remember The Bamboos? They're "Australia's premier instrumental deepfunk outfit"--a title with a little more weight on it than you might expect. It also happens to make them a hell of a fit with America's premier aloe-matical funk vocalist Aloe Blacc. When they get together, as on "Where Does The Time Go?" a powerful soul-synergy occurs that brings the best out of both sides. In fact when the pitch-perfect melancholy of Aloe's vocal is picked up by the echoey blues guitar, it makes you wonder what he could if we still had bands (not backing bands but BANDS) in 2012--and he was part of one. The Bamboos 5th album Medicine Man is slated to drop on June 1st and in addition to Mr. Blacc, it features Kylie Auldist, Megan Washington and Daniel Merriweather all stepping up to the mic--but it looks like this song will be coppable May 22nd as a single via Juno.
