Audio Premiere: Low Leaf "Rise Up"
Low Leaf’s collabo with King Britt last week was straight up hypnotic, and I’ve still got it on repeat to this day. But now, it’s time to move on to some tracks off her upcoming LP, AKASHAALAY. Today, OKP proudly premieres the first single from said album, “Rise Up.” The L.A. multi-talented musician had this to say of the song: "'Rise Up' is a vibratory message of restoration and empowerment to the collective Filipino psyche. In an effort to de-colonize, cleanse, and heal the wounds of history & recent natural disasters, the time is ripe now, more than ever, for the Filipino spirit to be reborn in full form. As the divine generation, our ancestors that have lived and died for us to co-create our culture through music & art are speaking through us, and guiding our hearts to a new awakening. So, people of the world - how we gonna rise up?” Powerful message right there, expect more of that on AKASHAALAY, a tribute to Low’s homeland of the Philippines, that, save one song, was entirely written and produced by Low Leaf. AKASHAALAY will be out on April 29th via Fresh Selects. Photo: Joe Ash, Design: Nate James & Low Leaf.
