A$AP Rocky Performs "L$D" + "Jukebox Joints" Alongside The Roots On The Tonight Show

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

At long last, A$AP Rocky and The Roots have connected. (Alright, we're well aware that the two parties converged in 2012 for a Late Night performance of "Goldie," but really, who's keeping score on this stuff?). The young MC stopped by The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and, with a little help from the greatest band on television, performed two of the highlights from his excellent AT.Long.LAST.A$AP LP, specifically "L$D" and "Jukebox Joints." Surrounded in a deep purple haze and laying atop a bed of plus pillows, Rocky's on-screen performance captured the murky essence of "L$D," while Captain Kirk handled the track's slinking guitar line and Questlove held down drum duties--a power trio performance for the ages.

But the slow drift of of "L$D" lasted for but a moment before things kicked into a higher gear and the group took on "Jukebox Joints," a soul-inflected hip-hop track that, in its studio form, benefits from a Kanye West feature but in its live appearance on "Fallon" was handled skillfully by Rocky alone. Watch the video of the full performance below and, for an extended taste of both acts check out Okayplayer's full video recap of the Roots Picnic 2015, during which both A$AP and The Roots performed legendary sets.
