Moonchild's Andris Mattson marked his solo debut this past week under the Wildflower moniker with the arrival of the Water EP. We've seen similar transitions in the past; Toro Y Moi resurfaced as Les Sins and Quadron's Robin Hannibal has the duo venture Rhye. With each revolution the hope is that an artist outdoes the previous release or at least gets noticeably better. Mattson does exactly that on this project. Standing on his own, he shines as a solo artist with an effervescent collection that may leave many listeners feeling like the project is criminally short.
