Kaytranada Lends His Infectious Dance Skills To Aminé's New Cut "La Danse"

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

This one almost snuck past us, but it'd be a shame to not report on a "La Danse," the new single from Portland MC Aminé that features some quick-stepping production from new school beat hero Kaytranada. Built of rattling hi-hats, handclaps, sirens and calm piano chords, the track is top flight uptempo hip-hop from a part of the country usually better known for its slow, rainy mornings and kicked-back coffee shop afternoons. The most important part of the beat, however, might be vocal itself; Aminé voice spins over everything like a buzzsaw, chopping up the bar lines and leaving listeners in a daze. It's one thing for a rapper and producer to both hit their stride on a track, but it's an even more wonderful to hear them mix perfectly empower one another's greatness. Synergy--it's a beautiful thing. This one bangs like it's been given ten-too-many espressos.

"La Danse" serves as the lead-off single to Aminé new release Calling Brio, a ten track body of work that feels additional productions from Kaytranada, plus Tek.Lun, Pasqué and Aminé himself. Listen to the feverish single below and keep an eye out for this one--we expect nothing but great things from the Portland hip-hop prodigy.
