If the signs are reading correctly, it seems we'll have a new album from Alicia Keys by year's end. Earlier this year, Keys took to Saturday Night Live to debut not one, but two new songs from what is presumably her forthcoming record, the infectious radio-ready romp "In Common" and the powerful, spirited ballad "Hallelujah," the latter of which was just released as a stunning standalone single, returning to her slow-burning sonic stamp, which we've all grown to love.
Though the new singles are front and center, Keys has recently embarked on a crusade of sorts, penning an essay on Lenny that outlines her #NoMakeUp movement, how her new album will reflect this newly liberated Keys. With all of the recent movements, it's hard to imagine it will be much longer. Who knows, maybe we'll hear her five-year-old son, Egypt, (who contributed a production to Kendrick Lamar's surprise 2016 album, untitled unmastered) lay down his sophomore outing for Mama's sixth studio album.
