Alabama Shakes Dabble With Space Travel In The New "Sound & Color" Video

Soul livewires Alabama Shakes have rolled out the official vide for their latest single "Sound & Color"--and it's the last thing you'd expect. Far from the earthy, rock 'n' roll revival aesthetic that the southern has become known for, this new clip, directed by James Frost, is a spartan sequence of scenes from a space station. We watch as a man emerges (haphazardly) from sort of pod, only to stroll the bright and empty hallways of the station, eventually making his way to a pilot's seat. And somehow it all works perfectly as visual companion to "Sound & Color"; the track's cool marimba and yearning vocals seem appropriate for a traveller leaving Earth for a solitary flight through the cosmos.

It's been a big day for Alabama Shakes. Earlier this morning Billboard confirmed that their new LP Sound & Color, which dropped April 21st, has claimed the number 1 spot on its top 200 albums chart. The Shakes moved an equivalent of 96,000 copies during the past week--and as a testament to the band's grit, 91,000 of those copies came from full album sales. Watch the new video for "Sound & Color" below and get ready for a strange, beautiful interstellar journey.
