The biggest NBA free agency story of the 2018 season got settled in one day. On July 1st, the first day of free agency, LeBron James announcedthat he was signing a four year, $154 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.
What's amazing about this announcement is that it came on Twitter. In comparison, the last time LeBron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers, back in 2010 when he joined the Miami Heat, he had a whole show dedicated towards his announcement called The Decision. When he left Miami to join the Cavs in 2014, it was an exclusive Sports Illustrated story.
This time it was just a sentence.
After the announcement was made, LeBron had one final goodbye to the city of Cleveland. He put it on his Instagram stories:
Cavs owner Dan Gilbertwrote a classy letter dedicatedtowards LeBron. It was a much different responsethan his scathing (slightly racist) 2010 letter when Bron left the first time around.
