Another day, another rapper tripped up in the predictably ace research of a Nardwuar interview. Harlem's Sheck Wes was the latest to be tested by the venerable Vancouver journalist. Catching him backstage at a north-of-the-border stop on Travis Scott's Astroworld tour, Nardy got right to the gift-giving, lacing Wes with a number of albums that explored the rich musical history of his parents' Senegalese roots.
Throughout their chat, Wes recounts early memories of admiring dazzling knockoff suits at the markets in the West African country and even drops a few bars in Wolof (though he capped the interview with his hallmark "BITCH" ad-lib.) It's when Nardwuar starts running through the names of childhood friends and family members that the 20-year-old becomes visibly uncomfortable (sending the Harlem rapper into an endless run of shoutouts ) which is a pretty standard response for anyone facing The Human Serviette's line of relentlessly-hospitable interrogation.
