A press release via Variety describes the series as follows: "Set in early '90s New York at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, the show tracks the Clan’s formation, a vision of Bobby Diggs aka The RZA, who strives to unite a dozen young, black men that are torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories."
"I'm delighted to be partnering with Hulu and Imagine to explore the vast story of the Wuniverse," RZA said. "Wu-Tang through our music has always strove to inspire as we entertain. This opportunity to continue the Wu – Saga in a 10-episode series will exponentially increase our inspirational style of entertainment. In the immortal words of ODB 'Wu-Tang is for the Children.'"
An American Saga will be available to watch on Hulu but doesn't have a release date yet. RZA and Alex Tse (SuperFly) will serve as writers for the show; RZA and Method Man will executive produce alongside Tse, Brian Grazer, and Francie Calfo, and Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, GZA, and the Estate of Ol' Dirty Bastard will serve as consulting producers.
Recently, Ghostface, GZA, and RZA featured in a new web series to promote White Castle's vegan sliders. Titled Wu-Tang In Space Eating Impossible Sliders, the first episode finds the trio responding to fan questions about ascending their consciousness and where ideas come from. They also watch an alien fight take place on the moon. It's a strange but hilarious premise that's a little reminiscent of Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
