Will Smith is Reportedly in India, Finding "Healing" a Month After Oscars Slap

One month after slapping Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards, Will Smith traveled to Mumbai, India for spiritual purposes and wellness.

Will Smith has taken some time off in India recently. One month following the incident at the 94th Academy Awards where the actor slapped Chris Rock for making an off-color joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head, Smith was seen at a private airport in Mumbai.

According to People, the actor was greeted by fans and paparazzi at the airport, and a source shared that the actor went to find healing through spiritual purposes, meditation and yoga.

Although Smith apologized to Rock in a statement following the Oscars incident, Page Six notes that the Oscar winner for Best Actor has not apologized to Rock in-person. Smith also resigned from The Academy, with the organization banning him from attending events for 10 years.

"The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy," wrote in his statement. "I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken. I want to put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film."

Will later concluded, "Change takes time, and I am committed to doing the work to ensure that I never again allow violence to overtake reason."

While performing in Boston during his Ego Death World Tour, Rock said that he is still "processing what happened" at the Oscars will not speak on it until he gets paid.

With the season five return of Red Table Talk, Pinkett Smith has shared in a statement that the series will discuss the Oscars incident in a future episode.

"Considering all that has happened in the last few weeks, the Smith family has been focusing on deep healing. Some of the discoveries around our healing will be shared at the table when the time calls," read the statement. "Until then... the table will continue offering itself to powerful, inspiring and healing testimonies like that of our incredibly impressive first guest. Thanks for joining us, Jada."
