Timbaland Shares Spaced-Out Remix of Whitney Houston's "Wanna Dance with Somebody"

The hitmaker flips an iconic anthem into a modern slow jam.

After teasing the track late last year, Timbaland has officially released his remix of the late Whitney Houston‘s 1987 smash, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).”

“I feel like the world needs to hear this beautiful voice right now,” the producer wrote on Twitter this morning, sharing a Soundcloud link to the song. Just north of three and a half-minutes, the rework puts a modern sheen on the late-80s anthem, Houston’s full-flight vox washing over spacious synth chords and big drums. The song arrives on the heels of a recent live-streamed beat battle with fellow hitmaker, Swizz Beats (the victor of which has yet to be determined,) as both producers attempt to buoy spirits and general morale amidst the country’s coronavirus lockdown.
