Sheck Wes is in the clear for now.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney has decided not to take a case against New York City rapper Sheck Wes, due to“insufficient evidence,” according to a new report from TMZ. The rapper, who is best known for his hit “Mo Bamba,” won’t face any charges for allegedly abusing Justine Skye, his girlfriend at the time, at the Montrose Hotel in West Hollywood.
Last month, Skye went public with her allegations against Sheck, even providing video of an encounter the rapper had with her. Wes has denied all claims. Pitchfork reached out to Skye to get a statement about the decision.
Skye’s team wrote back:
A judge in the Superior Court of California granted a restraining order against Sheck Wes that is still in effect and the correlating case is still pending. However, it is unfortunate that the Los Angeles District Attorney decided not to pursue any further action at this time but that is often the case with many victims of Domestic Violence which is why incidents like this go unreported much of the time.
At no time did anyone from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office take a statement on the incident from Justine Skye or reached out to garner a statement which is unfortunate.
