Watch the Trailer for Upcoming Documentary ‘TLC Forever’

Upcoming Lifetime documentary, ‘TLC Forever,’ follows the legacy of TLC, the ‘90s and early 2000s R&B group from Atlanta.

Lifetime is celebrating the enduring legacy of the R&B trio TLC with the new documentary, TLC Forever. On Tuesday night (April 4), Lifetime, along with A+E Networks released the first trailer for the two-hour documentary, which features remaining members Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. Late member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes died in 2002 after a car accident in Honduras.

Although the group previously released the biographical film CrazySexyCool on VH1 in 2013, TLC Forever will be their most in-depth feature yet. During their prime, the trio became the best-selling girl group of all time in the United States, selling over 95 million records. But despite their successes, the trio faced tribulations, including Lopes’ untimely death, illness, and public-facing bankruptcy.

“For the first time, T-Boz and Chilli and other music industry colleagues detail their story and lives in how they broke boundaries, influenced an entire generation, and survived against all odds,” reads the synopsis.

“No matter what we went through, we never questioned the love,” Thomas says in the trailer.

The former LaFace Records group released three albums with Lopes, including their 1992 debut LP Ooooooohhh... On the TLC Tip, 1994’s CrazySexyCool, and 1999’s Fanmail. Their fourth album, 3D, arrived in October 2002, just months after Lopes’ death, while their eponymous long-awaited fifth album was released in 2017. The album was largely funded through a Kickstarter campaign supported by fans and fellow artists like Justin Timberlake, New Kids on the Block, and Katy Perry.

Directed by Matthew Kay, the documentary also features interviews with Questlove of The Roots and Missy Elliott. Along with TLC Forever, the “No Scrubs” artists will embark on their “Hot Summer Nights” tour with En Vogue, Shaggy and Sean Kingston this summer.

TLC Forever premieres on June 3 at 8 PM/7 PM CT. Watch the trailer below.
