Watch Freddie Gibbs & Anderson .Paak Bring "Feel No Pain" To 'The Tonight Show'

Freddie Gibbs and Anderson .Paak appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to perform "Feel No Pain" and "Blackest in the Room."

Freddie Gibbs brought his new album, $oul $old $eparately, to late night television on Monday night (January 23). With assistance from Anderson .Paak and The Roots, the Gary, Indiana emcee floated through "Blackest in the Room" and "Feel No Pain" on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The latter song makes Gibbs' second collaboration with .Paak, as the two last collaborated on "Giannis" from 2019 album Bandana, produced entirely by Madlib.

After making a splash with Bruno Mars as soulful duo Silk Sonic in 2021, .Paak reunited with longtime producer Knxwledge as duo NxWorries last year, releasing single "Where I Go" with H.E.R. in October. Next, .Paak will make his directorial debut with musicial film K-POPS!, where he'll co-star along with his eldest son, Soul Rasheed.

In an interview with Okayplayer, Gibbs discussed the process of making "Blackest in the Room" with producer The Alchemist.

"That was the Alchemist’s game. I had to get Alchemist on the album," he said. "Damn, I’m trying to figure out what I was watching that day when I came up with that concept. I think I was watching some gang documentary on Jeff Fort and then — I don’t know, the music just made me feel like I was in the twenties or some shit like that. One of them Duke Ellington big band rooms or something like that.

He continued, "I just wanted to rap to make it fit. I think every song is like putting together a puzzle, so I just wanted to make the pieces go together. And especially with that one, because we intertwined two beats. So, Alchemist did his thing with that."
