"Dive" is the third single off Monét’s upcoming project, Jaguar

Victoria Monét has unveiled her second single of the year “Dive,” it follows the release of “Moment” which arrived back in February.

“Dive” is the third single from Monét’s forthcoming project Jaguar which is set to arrive later this spring. The easygoing track is filled with lush vibes, on it she puts her vocals on display as she sings about fellatio and her sexual desires. We also can’t help but notice the vintage sound throughout it.

It’s no secret that Victoria is known for songwriting, one of the biggest tracks of 2018, she’s credited as a songwriter on Ariana Grande’s single “thank u, next.” Prior to that, she sharpened her teeth penning on behalf of the likes of T.I. and Fifth Harmony. In the past, since Grande is a close friend, she also contributed to the pop singer’s debut album, according to Nylon. Along the way, she dropped four solo EPs.

In a press release, Monét shares the significance of releasing her newest song. She mentions that “Dive” is about women and the importance of them getting pleasure through oral sex. “It’s not talked about enough from our perspective and I wanted to break the ice.” She also added, “Women are an adventure. We are powerful as oceans, as beneficial as h20 and as fun as any theme park.”

After a friend mentioned Victoria in conversation, I've been revisiting her past projects: Life After Love, Pt. 1 and Pt. 2. Both of these releases are cohesive and are filled with her natural tendency to write about love and heartbreak. Her honest pen is refreshing in a sea of R&B singers fighting for relevance in the digital age.

Before “Moment” dropped, Victoria’s last single was the body-positive anthem “Ass Like That” which surfaced in October of last year. These two tracks alongside “Dive” are setting the stage for her next release.
