Last night's Verzuz included props that no one saw coming: watermelons. On Thursday (June 24), R&B veterans Omarion and Mario took over The Novo in Los Angeles for "A Night of R&B," which also included a bonus match with Ray J and Bobby V against Pleasure P and Sammie.
With the night full of 2000s R&B nostalgia, viewers noticed that performers didn't live up to expectation. Ray J pulled no punches in dissing Bobby V, Sammie and Pleasure P (all while holding his two-year-old son, Epik). During an off-key performance of "One Wish," the Raycon co-founder told the three men that they were “just mad y’all don’t own y’all hits.” Sammie didn't hold back either, saying there “wouldn’t be no Bobby V without Sammie,” and dismissing Ray J as merely "Brandy's brother."

Introduced by comedian and actor DeRay Davis, the battle between Omarion and Mario ended with the latter as the night's champion. Mario effortlessly performed songs "C'mon," "Just A Friend 2000," "Somebody Else" and more, while Omarion ran through his B2K and solo material including "M.I.A," "Entourage" and "Touch." When it seemed like Omarion couldn't hold up on his on, he brought out guests Jeremih and Tank, with Mario clowning all three vocalists.

Before bringing out his brother O'Ryan for an awkward moment of eating watermelons, Omarion dissed Mario for not being a part of The Millenium Tour. However, the former Empire star brushed off the slight, claiming he didn't “wanna be in that raggedy s**t.” Lasting 10 rounds, Omarion ended his set with “Girlfriend” while Mario fought back with “Never."
