Looks like Talib Kweli was going to take a break from making music after releasing his latest solo album but Yasiin Bey interfered with that.

Kweli was in Dallas, Texas for a performance but was present at a meet-and-greet event beforehand  where he discussed his most recent release, Radio Silence.

Radio Silence is my 16th album, and for my whole career, I’ve always been competitive, and I always wanted to have records on the radio and compete with other artists," Kweli said according to a report from the Dallas Observer. "For the last few albums, I’ve been changing my focus to not compete so much with the industry but instead compete with myself."

The Brooklyn MC then revealed that he planned on not putting anything out for a long time after Radio Silence, but Bey announcing that the two were working on a new Black Star album changed that. As the Dallas Observer reports:

"Then Mos Def is out here making announcements and shit," Kweli jokes, referring to Mos Def’s premature statement about his new album. "So you know we’ve been working on that, too."

A month ago Bey announced that a new Black Star album was coming in 2018.

"New Black Star with Madlib, Talib Kweli, Yasiin, coming soon!" Bey said during a Madlib DJ set in Denver, Colorado. "All Madlib, all day. 2018, Madlib, Black Star. Madlib Black Star."

Following that, Bey crashed another Madlib event where he proceeded to talk about the album again, as well as rap a verse from it.
