On his new Spotify EP Live at Electric Lady, Denzel Curry is joined by Bilal for a cover of Erykah Badu’s “Didn’t Cha Know.”

Denzel Curry hopped into his neo-soul bag on his new Spotify EP, Live At Electric Lady. In collaboration with Bilal, the sixth track “Didn’t Cha Know,” is a cover of the Erykah Badu classic from her sophomore album Mama’s Gun.

Like Curry’s new EP, Badu also recorded Mama’s Gun at New York’s Electric Lady Studios, where additional Soulquarians like D’Angelo, Common, and The Roots recorded their biggest albums of the 1990s and early 2000s. Also present during the recordings was Bilal, who released his debut album 1st Born Second in 2001. Mama’s Gun debuted at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, with Badu receiving praise for additional album singles “Bag Lady” and “Cleva.”

Life At Electric Lady follows Curry’s fifth studio album Melt My Eyez See Your Future, which was released in 2022. When nominations for the 2023 Grammy Awards were released last November, Curry expressed outrage at MMESYF being snubbed in the Best Rap Album category in comparison to mainstream acts. In March, Kendrick Lamar would ultimately take home the trophy.

“This shit [is a]bout money at the end of the day so if that’s what it comes down to I’m going get [sic] my bread up,” Curry tweeted in a lengthy Twitter thread last year.

Also on Curry’s Spotify-exclusive EP are tracks “Lonely Man,” a cover of the theme song from the 1980s detective show, “Walkin,” “Troubles” and more. Next, Curry is slated to release the upcoming project Designed by Angels.
