A Brand New Sa-Ra Track is the Soundtrack for This Louis Vuitton Ad
A lush-sounding Sa-Ra track featuring Thundercat, Terrace Martin, and Kamasi Washington is the soundtrack for a new Louis Vuitton ad.
Well, this is a nice surprise.
Earlier this week, Louis Vuitton announced that they would not be showcasing its Men’s Spring-Summer 2021 collection at Paris Fashion Week. Instead, the high-end brand will host a couple of seasonless at various locations around the world, with the first show happening in Shanghai, China on August 6. On Friday, Louis Vuitton premiered a short film in support of the upcoming Shanghai show.
The short animated film is called “The Adventures of Zoooom with Friends” and it was directed by Virgil Abloh, who has been the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear collection since 2018. The video, which was animated by Reggie Know, features a crew of animated characters traveling with some Louis luggage (It makes sense when you watch it.)
For music-heads, what’s exciting here is the soundtrack. The ad was composed, arranged, performed, and produced by The Sa-Ra Creative Partners — Taz Arnold, Shafiq Husayn, and Om’Mas Keith. The track is called “The SA-RA™ Louis Vuitton Suite Pour Le Monde” and is the first new Sa-Ra track since they surprised us with a new song last year. The song features fellow jazz legends Thundercat, Terrace Martin, and Kamasi Washington.
After the video was released, Sa-Ra went to Instagram to boast about the track and ad.
Last year, Shafiq Husayn released his latest album The Loop. On the North American vinyl pressing of The Loop was a bonus track that featured the entire The Sa-Ra Creative Partners. It was the group’s first output since the release of their sophomore album, Nuclear Evolution: The Age of Love, in 2009.
