Top Dawg Entertainment MC Reason dropped a new track, "The Soul Pt. 2," on Monday. The track, produced by Kal Banx, Lonestarmuzik, and BREGMA is a follow-up to his initial TDE release from 2018.
On the track, Reason addresses rumors that he's signed to Dreamville, and not TDE.
"This industry keep playing with a nigga, I see y'all playin," he rhymed. "See jokes about South Africa REASON, now it seem real/See jokes about how I’m not really with Top and I’m with Dreamville/N***as pronounce my name wrong, tell me that I ain’t did much."
Additionally, Reason takes a shot at the recently-retired Logic, scoffing at those who confused the two similarly-named MCs.
“See y’all mistake my name for Logic’s," he continues, "y’all got me fucked up/How you compare a nigga that take from the culture/Versus a nigga that’s for it."
In a statement, the Carson, California MC calls "The Soul - Pt. 2" an "honest record about the headspace I'm in right now, as well as serves as a time capsule for the various headspaces I’ve found myself in over the last couple years."
Could Reason be the next Top Dawg Entertainment MC to release a new project. Earlier this month, Kendrick Lamar sparked headlines after he was reportedly spotted shooting a music video in downtown Los Angeles. Shortly afterwards, SZA released "Hit Different," featuring Ty Dolla $ign, her first single in nearly a year.
