The North Carolina rapper celebrates iconic black women in a teaser for her Laila’s Wisdom follow-up.

Coming off a relatively quiet recent stretch, Rapsody has announced her new album Eve will arrive in August.

In a brief teaser posted to Instagram, the North Carolina rapper flashes stills of iconic black women — Grace Jones, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Nina Simone, Maya Angelou, Aretha Franklin, and Serena Williams, all make the cut — as an image of herself in a sequins-blasted wave cap comes to the fore.

No music is previewed in the clip, but it certainly signals that something’s on the way. Her last transmission arrived by way of the soulful J. Cole collaboration, “Sojourner,” in 2018. The year prior, her Roc Nation debut, Laila’s Wisdom, was unanimously-adored by critics and pedestrians alike, topping the gamut of 2017’s “Best Of” lists.
