Watch Lauryn Hill & Andra Day Honor Nina Simone at the 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe were both honored
On Saturday, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted its 2018 class during a ceremony held in Cleveland. Legendary singer Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe were both inducted into the hall.
To celebrate the occasion, there were two striking performances.
Andra Day and Lauryn Hill did a Nina Simone melody.
It was interesting watching Day and Hill team up for the performance. Day, who was backed by The Roots, started it off singing songs like "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free" and "I Put a Spell on You;" Hill then handled the second half of the performance, singing "Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair" and "Feeling Good."
There is no official video released, but a YouTube user was able to get some footage and upload it:
Sister Rosetta Tharpe, who was a legendary guitarist and gospel singer, was honored by Alabama Shakes singer Brittany Howard, who performed songs like "That's All" and "Strange Things Happening Every Day."
