Listen to Navy Blue's Major Label Debut, 'Ways of Knowing'

On Thursday, Navy Blue released his Def Jam Recordings debut LP Ways of Knowing, fully produced by Budgie.

Navy Blue has arrived with his major label debut. On Thursday (March 23), the Los Angeles rapper and skateboarder, legal name Sage Elsesser, released his seventh album Ways of Knowing, executive produced by Budgie. Across 13 tracks, guest appearances include the aforementioned producer, Zeroh, Kelly Moonstone, Liv.e and Venna. Along with Budgie, production credits on Ways of Knowing feature Om’Mas Keith, Yaffra, Drew Banga, and Elsesser himself.

A month prior to the album's release, Elsesser dropped lead single "Chosen." To accompany his album's release, Elsesser gifted fans with a new video for "The Medium" and "Pillars." Last year, the 26-year-old artist released  three physical-only projects, Gift of Gabriel: Rain’s Reign!, Crypt of Carlos: Onward!and Arc of Atreyu: Neverending!, also appearing on songs with Babeheaven (“Make Me Wanna”), Quelle Chris (“So Tired You Can’t Stop Dreaming”), Nicholas Craven (“Anchor”) and Domo Genesis (“Skeletons”). The LA native was also featured on Wiki and Subject 5‘s “One More Chance” from their 2022 Cold Cuts mixtape.

In a 2022 interview with Earl Sweatshirt for i-D, Elsesser suggested that he may soon change his 'Navy Blue' pseudonym.

“I got extremely depressed when I was eighteen – I was depressed all through my teenage years, and out of that birthed Navy Blue," he said. "Hopefully, this chapter will end soon and I’ll move on to something different; a different name or something. I eventually want to go by Sage.”
