Killer Mike Announces First Solo Album in Over A Decade

Atlanta rap veteran Killer Mike has announced his sixth studio album, Michael, also releasing new single “Don’t Let the Devil.”

Killer Mike is back with his first solo album in nearly 10 years. The Atlanta native has announced his new LP, Michael, which follows his critically-acclaimed 2012 album, R.A.P. Music.

“RTJ is the X-Men, this is my Logan,” the Run the Jewelsmember said about his upcoming solo effort.

Although a tracklist for Michael has not been revealed, the album will feature the new single “Don’t Let the Devil,” which includes fellow RTJ member El-P and Thankugoodsir, with additional production from No I.D. and Little Shalimar.

“Don’t Let the Devil” also follows lead single “Run” which features Young Thug and Dave Chappelle. Last month, the entirety of Michael was played at a private listening event, where Millwakee radio host and producer DJ Kenny Perez, shared in an Instagram post that guests on the LP include André 3000 and Lil Wayne.

“The project is a journey through his life and he doesn’t hold back,” Perez wrote about Michael.

Along with Michael, this fall, Killer Mike will join El-P for a tenth anniversary RTJX – Celebrating 10 Years of Run the Jewels tour, which hits Atlanta, New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles, each stop having four shows apiece.

“It’s mind-blowing to us that it’s been 10 years since we joined forces as RTJ. The best way we can think to celebrate is to get the whole family together and do what we love for the people who love us back,” the duo said in a joint statement. “It’s going to be amazing, just like this entire ride has been, and we are grateful to get a chance to celebrate with our jewel runners this year and finally get back into clubs to destroy some stages for you.”
