“Brat was the first female artist to go platinum, so we together broke the mold…and since then female rappers have been able to sustain and sell a lot of records, more records than guys, but before Brat that wasn’t happening,” he said.
From there, one of the hosts asked Dupri if he has a favorite current woman rapper, to which he replied: “I can’t really say.”
“…I feel they’re all rapping about the same thing. I don’t think they’re showing us who’s the best rapper,” he added. “For me, it’s like strippers rapping and as far as rap goes I’m not getting who’s the best rapper.”
“I’m getting like, ‘Oh, you got a story about you dancing in the club. You got a story about you dancing in the club. You got a story about you dancing in the club’…OK, all right, who’s gonna be the rapper?”
Once the video surfaced on social media, users reacted to Dupri’s remarks, including Cardi B.
“Okay guys I have seen a lot of people saying nowadays female rappers only talk about their pu**y and now that Jermaine Dupri brought it up I’m going to say something,” Cardi said. “First of all, I rap about my pu**y because she’s my best friend and second of all it’s because it seems like that’s what people want to hear.”
“When I did ‘Be Careful’ people was talking mad s**t in the beginning like ‘What the f**k is this?’ ‘This is not what I was expecting,” she continued. “It’s like if that’s what people ain’t trying to hear then I’m going to start rapping about my pu**y again.”
She then went on to say that are a lot of “female rappers who rap their asses off who don’t talk about their pu**y and y’all don’t support them. So don’t blame that on us when y’all not the ones who are supporting them,” and proceeded to shout out some of those rappers in another video.
Among those she listed were Rapsody, Tierra Whack, Oranicuhh and Kamaiyah, saying: “These girls can rap they asses off and they don’t rap about their vaginas and sucking d**k.”
Doja Cat also called out Dupri for his remarks in a series of Instagram Story videos.

Jermaine Dupri talked all of that mess as if to suggest he was rapping about anything ‘different’ when he had his career behind the mic. The nerve…As if the industry isn’t CURRENTLY flooded with male rappers who literally all rap about the same shit.

Jermaine Dupri is the same short nigga that said Beyoncé will not be here in ten years. Years later in 2016, he was one of the opening acts at Beyoncé's sold out stadium tour lmao… His opinion on women artist is invalid.
