Ja Rule has rolled out a new song “For Your Real Entertainment (FYRE)” about the Fyre Festival debacle he found himself receiving flack for back in 2017.
The track actually candidly addresses the fact that the rapper, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins believed he was bamboozled and led astray. In fact those exact lines are mentioned in the song, “I too was hoodwinked, bamboozled, led astray/Cautionary tales of money and finance investing.”
Back in November, a judge dismissed the appeal of a $100 million class action lawsuit that was filed against the rapper by Fyre Festival attendees, according to The Fader. This ruling leaves the responsibility for the disaster on Billy McFarland, the creator of the botched event and other organizers. In an attempt to add Rule’s name to the lawsuit via an appeal, another judge ruled he was ignorant of the festival’s misconduct. The viral moments associated with the festival were depicted alongside extensive interviews with notable figures in two previously released documentaries by Netflix and Hulu.
Despite Rule’s name being cleared, McFarland’s legal issues have continued to worsen. Complex reports that in October 2018, McFarland was sentenced to six years in federal prison and was also ordered to pay back $26 million to festival investors. In February he was reportedly ordered to pay $2.8 million to EHL Funding, a company he borrowed money from to fund Fyre Festival.
