Dilla's Delights needs your help.

In 2016, Herman Hayes, uncle to the late J Dilla, launched a gourmet donut shop in his nephew's honor. It was aptly named "Dilla's Delights."

But after three years of operating out of a corner unit in Detroit and a recent bout with cancer, Hayes was forced to limit his hours at the shop, where he worked alongside Dilla's two daughters, Ja'mya and Paige, to serve flavors inspired by the Motor City.

Earlier this week, Hayes launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $15,000, hoping to cover some of the costs to reopen, including updates and repairs for equipment and wholesale vendor contracts (all expenses he paid for out of pocket when the shop originally opened.) The pitch also notes that Hayes is currently seeking properties to relocate the shop, where he intends to install seating room and a museum component to the shop. He adds, one prospective location "comes with enormous historic magnitude."

At the point of publishing, the campaign had just surpassed the $11,000 mark, anchored by small donations of $5 and $10. A little goes a long way. Hit the link below to make a contribution via GoFundMe.
