Gladys Knight & Patti LaBelle Will Battle in Special “One Night Only” ‘Verzuz’ Match

Patti LaBelle will face off against Gladys Knight in a battle of the icons.

Verzuz has announced their next matchup, and it’s going to feature two soul legends. Gladys Knight will face off against Patti LaBelle in a battle of icons on Sunday, September 13th. It will be the second straight Verzuz battle to feature two legendary female singers. The last Verzuz battle was Monica vs. Brandy, and it was the most-watched Verzuz battle yet. ( Over 1.2 million viewers tuned into Verzuz‘ Instagram Live for the battle.)

The square off will go down at The Fillmore in Philadelphia and you will be able to stream it on Verzuz’ Instagram page and on Apple TV.

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s Verzuz series has become a smash hit success. This is the first time Verzuz is hosting a battle with two truly throwback singers. Knight and LaBelle are both icons, with careers that span decades. Both Knight and LaBelle have had hit records, classic albums, and multiple Grammy awards. The two even have collaborated together — alongside Dionne Warwick — on “Sisters in the Name of Love,” which came out in 1986.

After the Verzuz battle was announced, lovers of the classics came out to celebrate on Twitter.

Director Ava Duvernay responded with a gif; while Phonte said he’s going to cop a Patti Pie for the occasion.

While fans had the auntie jokes ready.

Sunday can’t get here fast enough. Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle’s “One Night Only” Verzuz will go down on Sunday, September 13th at 8 PM EST.
