Freddie Gibbs and Madlib's 'Bandana' Set for May Release

Bandana season is upon us.

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib's Bandana has been a perpetual tease for the better part of five years now. But it appears we can expect to finally hear the Piñata sequel next month.

In a recent interview with Gibbs on Beats 1, Nadeska Alexis revealed the album was due in May, though a precise release date was never mentioned. For his part, Gibbs was tight-lipped about details, but mentioned that the project features more guest spots than he'd initially hoped. Bandana's Assassin-assisted title track, released in March, is also the duo's first with a feature. Gibbs added that the project's first single, "Flat Tummy Tea," was partially inspired by an effective laxative that's been touted by aspiring influencers in Instagram. He notes Bandana will be his first release on a major label (ditto for Madlib.)

Both rapper and producer are on the road in the meantime. Gibbs is headlining a 4/20 yacht party in NYC next weekend and Madlib's performing a set at Fauna Otono Festival in Santiago, Chile on May 4th, if you're looking for early peaks at Bandana. They'll make a rare joint appearance at this year's Made In America Festival in Philadelphia.
