Another day, another charge for R. Kelly. As the federal cases against the singer unfold in Illinois and New York, a new detail has arisen in the latter proceeding.
According to a Bossip exclusive, The U.S. Attorney’s Office in New York obtained copies of the singer's pharmacy and medical records, proving that he'd been undergoing treatment for herpes at the time of his arrest. The revelation adds weight to the state's claim of Kelly knowingly transmitting the incurable STI to at least one underage woman.
Outside of this specific charge, Kelly is awaiting trial for racketeering and violations of the Mann Act, which prohibits the transportation of minors across state lines for "immoral purposes." In early August, Kelly pleaded not guilty to all charges. If convicted, Kelly could face between 40 and 70 years in federal prison.
In related news, dream hampton recently announced that Lifetime would be releasing another season of Surviving R. Kelly, the docuseries that sparked this latest round of accusations and indictments against the singer. It will focus on the fallout of the first season's events.
