This Is The One Album Erykah Badu Would Listen To If She Were Stranded On A Deserted Island

Erykah Badu has talked about this particular album many times throughout her career.

We all have that one album (or at least a top three) that we would want to have with us if we were ever stranded on a deserted island. (I know you want to know mine and yes, it's A Tribe Called Quest's Midnight Marauders.) Well, Erykah Badu has shared what her go-to album would be in such a situation and, well, it's a great choice.

While speaking with actor and singer Juliette Lewis for Interview magazine, Badu ended her conversation with Lewis by asking her what one album she would listen to if she were stranded on a deserted island.

"If you had just one that you could play for eternity, which one would it be?" Badu asked, with Lewis responding with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.

"You better get out of my head, woman! Get out of my mind! This solidifies everything. Everything. As much as we are different, we have come back full circle because that’s the one I pick, every time. We are kindred spirits. This interview is over," Badu said in response.

That Badu picked Dark Side of the Moon shouldn't come as a surprise. She has often spoken highly of the album from the beloved psychedelic rock band.

"The Dark Side of the Moon is one song all the way through. I love the production of it, the composition of it, how the drums were mixed, the time-signature changes, the vocals in 'The Great Gig in the Sky.' Everything about it is perfect," she once said of the album in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Badu's interview with Lewis can be read in its entirety here. In related news, Badu previously shared the music she has been listening to during the COVID-19 pandemic.
