Drake Opens for Lil Wayne During 'Welcome to tha Carter' Toronto Tour Stop
On Wednesday night, Drake opened for Lil Wayne during his Welcome to tha Carter Tour at Toronto’s History concert venue.
Drake fans in Toronto were treated to the rapper as an opening act on Lil Wayne’s Welcome to tha Carter Tour. On Wednesday (April 12), the 6 God surprised fans at the History Toronto venue with a quick set, performing hits “Marvins Room,” “Jungle,” “Know Yourself,” “Rich Flex,” “Sicko Mode,” “Feel No Ways” and “Nonstop.”
At one part of the set, the 5-time Grammy winner paused to call Weezy “the greatest rapper to ever do this shit.”
“I’m not gonna be too long-winded,” he told the crowd. “I know I like to go into these emotional speeches, and I’m sure this man has heard it all.
“But I just wanna say, you are in the presence, literally — and I’m not talking about myself, by the way — you are in the building, in the presence of the greatest rapper to ever do this shit. I promise you.”

In March, Drake gave Weezy his flowers when the Young Money Entertainment founder was honored during the Recording Academy Honors presented by the Black Music Collective.
“Lil Wayne… I love you so much,” the Toronto native said in a video message. “I know I probably get annoying with saying how much you mean to me and my family, but I think I speak on behalf of everybody when I say that our careers, our cadences, our melodies, maybe our face tats or our outfits or our decisions in general would not have been the same without your natural gift to just be yourself.”
Drizzy hasn’t been Lil Wayne’s only surprise during the Welcome to tha Carter Tour; last Tuesday (April 9), the 40-year-old brought out Chance the Rapper in Chicago to perform their 2016 collaboration “No Problems.”
