The track appears on the new Disclosure album Energy.
Just a few months after the release of their EP Ecstasy, electronic duo Disclosure is back with a new single. “Birthday” features Kehlani and Syd of The Internet. The track will appear on their forthcoming third studio album, Energy. Stream the video below.
“This ones for everyone who’s listened to our music or come to see us play live,” the group wrote on Instagram. “From day one till now.”
The video follows two star-crossed lovers in tiny houses. The two reminisce and attempt to distract themselves with model airplanes and television, before reuniting in claymation form. The wholesomely bizarre video was directed by Toronto-based Kid Studio.
Since their 2015 album Caracal, Disclosure has dropped three EPs: Moog for Love, Moonlight, and Ecstasy. In 2020, they’ve dropped six singles, including “Know Your Worth” featuring Khalid and “My High” with Amine and Slowthai.
Kehlani is fresh off the release of It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, her first studio album since 2017’s SweetSexySavage. The album peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Aside from a handful of features, Syd has been pretty quiet as of late. Her feature on Lil Uzi Vert’s “Urgency” was the only guest appearance on his critically-acclaimed Eternal Atake album. Previously, she released “Getting Late,” for the Queen & Slim soundtrack. In 2018, she appeared on projects from Sampha, Dirty Projectors, Mac Miller, and Leven Kali.
Energy is available on all major digital streaming platforms.
