Biz Markie Hospitalized After Suffering Complications with Diabetes

A rep for Biz confirms the hospitalization was not COVID-19 related.
Send up a prayer for Biz Markie.
According to multiple sources, the hip-hop legend has been hospitalized for weeks suffering from undisclosed complications with Type II Diabetes. A rep for the venerable DJ told TMZ Biz is in a Maryland-area hospital and has been “receiving the best care from an amazing team of medical professionals.” Though the reports note Biz is in serious condition, his team added, “We remain positive about the outcome.”
Biz Markie was been battling Diabetes for the better part of the last decade. In 2014, he was named the spokesperson for Zevia’s sugar-free soda line (a far cry from being a former face of Sprite) after losing more than 140 pounds to combat the effects of his Diabetes. As news of Biz’s hospitalization spread, the last 24-hours have seen an outpouring of love from across the world of hip-hop with fans and mentees like Questlove, El-P, R.A. The Rugged Man, and others, sending their thoughts and prayers. You can read those below.
