Babs takes a U-turn.
After catching the ire of the internets for the last 24 hours, Barbra Streisand has released a new statement addressing previous comments about Michael Jackson, his alleged victims, and their parents.
Delivered to Variety last night, the statement attempts to dial back yesterday’s “His sexual needs were his sexual needs” mess, apologizing for “any pain or misunderstanding I caused by not choosing my words more carefully.” Streisand goes on, “To be crystal clear, there is no situation or circumstance where it is OK for the innocence of children to be taken advantage of by anyone.” Rescinding the blame initially put on the parents of Wade Robson and James Safechuck, Streisand noted that “It’s clear that the parents of the two young men were also victimized and seduced by fame and fantasy.”
Streisand expanded the apology on Instagram (see below,) in which she added “I feel deep remorse and hope James and Wade know that I truly respect and admire them for speaking their truth.” Yesterday’s profile also drew comment from Leaving Neverland director, Dan Reed, blasting the actress for her irresponsible remarks.
