No hard feelings

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's engagement came to a sudden end a few weeks back.

And while neither of them was open to discussing what lead to the abrupt break in the weeks that followed, Grande appears to be on the road to resolve. Last night, just as Saturday Night Live's cold open commenced, Grande released a new song, "thank u, next," addressing former lovers, Davidson, Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, and, of course, the late Mac Miller. The upbeat cut expresses her gratitude for each, as well as what she learned from the respective relationships:

"One taught me love/One taught me patience/And one taught me pain/Now I'm so amazing/Say I've loved and I've lost/But that's not what I see/So look what I got/Look what you taught me."

After pulling a sketch about the break-up and jokingly proposing to musical guest Maggie Rogers in the promotional clips for this week's episode of SNL, Davidson offered a measured and thoughtful response during last night's Weekend Update segment:

"The truth is, it’s nobody’s business, Sometimes things just don't work out and that's OK. She's a wonderful, strong person and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world. Now, please go vote on Tuesday, all right?"
