Aretha Franklin is surrounded by friends and family
Soul legend Aretha Franklin is gravely ill, according to a new report.
The report comes from veteran reporter Roger Friedman, who has a relationship with the Franklin family. In his column, written for Showbiz411, he writes that the legendary singer is bed ridden in her hometown of Detroit. She is surrounded by family and friends, who are asking for "prayers and privacy."
Franklin, who is 76-years-old, last performed in November 2017 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation in New York.
Her last public show came around this time last year at Philadelphia’s Mann Center. Friedman called the performance "a miraculous show as Aretha was already then fighting exhaustion and dehydration."
