MoRuf Drops "PT Cruiser" with SZA

MoRuf pulls up with some new heat — with some help from SZA.

MoRuf is embracing change. The rapper-singer-songwriter has seen a lot of it over the past two years — having become a father and switched coasts after he moved from New Jersey to Los Angeles. With his newly-released SZA collab “PT Cruiser,” he’s showing the world where he’s at.

“PT Cruiser” is a slice of smooth R&B, with a pulsing groove underneath MoRuf’s stellar melody — as SZA joins in as a vocal counterpoint. As the title suggests, it’s a perfect song for riding smooth. Cruising, if you will.

The track, which was recorded in Los Angeles’ Peach Tree Studio, is the result of both inspiration and a lengthy friendship with SZA, who’s known MoRuf from the New Jersey scene for over a decade.

“My verse was already down, [SZA] walks in, and literally writes her part in like under an hour,” MoRuf tells Okayplayer. “I already knew my sis was special, but watching her just pull words out of the air and body it so casual? Wild. Then she hits me with, ‘What do you think, Moo?’ and I’m just like, ‘Uhhh… n***a, you snapped!’ [laughs].’”

It feels like they both did. Check out “PT Cruiser” for yourself below. Peep his episode of Diggin when you’re done.
