Other than the actual game, Prince was the biggest pop culture story of Super Bowl LII. On Saturday morning, news leaked that Justin Timberlake was going to use a Prince hologram during his Super Bowl halftime performance.
This did not go over well, with a large gathering of people having a toxic reaction to the idea of a Prince hologram.
In the end, it wasn't an actual Prince hologram that got used. Instead, a video projection of the Purple One was implemented. The performance got mixed reviews. Someone who did enjoy the Timberlake performance was longtime Prince collaborator Morris Day.
