Lizzo — And Her Flute — Tease Appearance on 'The Simpsons'

Lizzo becomes the latest musical act to star on The Simpsons, appearing in the show’s season 31 finale.

Lizzo’s headed to Springfield. The four-time Grammy-winner teased her appearance on the season 31 finale of long-running animated show The Simpsons, set to air on May 31. An excited Lizzo, legal name Melissa Jefferson, prematurely announced the episode, later joking about it on social media with the correct air date.

A teaser for the episode shows a Simpson-ized version “About Damn Time” artist, along with her signature flute Sasha. Titled “Homer’s Adventures Through the Windshield Glass,” the episode follows Lizzo as Homer’s guide. “Time stands still after Homer crashes his car and flies through the windshield,” an official synopsis for the episode reads. “As his life flashes before his eyes, a magical friend (voiced and sung by Lizzo) helps Homer learn the secret truth about this marriage.”

Lizzo’s guest role was first announced in February, when The Simpsons executive producer Tim Long told Entertainment Weekly that the episode would be a part of Homer Simpson’s hallucination after being impacted by a car accident.

“Lizzo says ‘bitch’ a lot and she does not suffer Homer very well,” revealing that the artist sings a track called “It Was Marge, Bitch.” “She ends up slapping and kicking him a lot to try to knock some sense into him. Which is very funny. And they end up developing a weird rapport that’s very, very sweet.”

The episode makes Lizzo’s second animated guest-starring role, as she last appeared on “Snackland” from the inaugural season of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.
