Lil Wayne Missed Tour Kickoff Due to Seizure Concerns
After leaving fans hanging in Bangor, Maine with no explanation to his absence, Weezy also addressed rumors about him being engaged to Madi Cannon.

Lil Wayne is explaining his absence at the kickoff for his 20+ Years of Carter Classics North American tour in Maine. In a video posted to his Instagram, the New Orleans legend clarified why he never took the stage on June 30 for his headlining slot at the Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor.
“I have epilepsy, I have seizures, right?” said Wayne. “Thank God I haven’t had a seizure in years, but seizures have triggers. A trigger to my seizures is bad migraines. I had a f–king migraine that night. It was recommended I don’t get in the air.”
Wayne has long been public about having epileptic seizures. In 2016, his private plane had to make an emergency landing because he was having seizures on the flight from Milwaukee to California. In 2017, he was taken to a Chicago hospital after a seizure. But the earliest reports occurred in 2012, when TMZ reported Weezy’s plane had to make an emergency landing in Texas.
“Im sort of epileptic,” he told Katie Couric during a 2013 Katie interview after he was hospitalized for six days as a result of multiple seizures. “So we had to go back in history to my past and see why this happened. My mom told me that when I was younger, I fainted on the playground. We didn’t know it was a seizure then. One of my cousins suffers from seizures too and died from them.”
The day after his absence in Bangor, Wayne was a guest at Michael Rubin’s White Party in Southampton, New York before returning to the stage on July 2 in Saratoga Springs, New York and then New Hampshire on July 3.
He previously apologized for the missed concert in a message on his Instagram Stories.
“My Maine fans, I'm so sorry,” Wayne wrote on July 1.
“The show is being rescheduled to July 28,” he added, without initially offering any information on why he was unable to perform that night. “Please hold on to your tickets, they will be honored for the rescheduled date. More information will be emailed directly to ticket holders.”
Wayne also addressed rumors about him being engaged to 23-year old influencer Madi Cannon.
“I would like to clear something up: No, I’m not engaged,” he shared. “I had a beautiful thing going with an amazing person, but obviously due to the validity of the temperature of today’s world and culture, I considered [that] I don’t want to be such a burden on such an amazing person,” he said. “So we decided to part. Sucks.”
